Merry Fitmas, ya filthy animal!
It’s almost July 25th, the day we crank up the Hallmark channel and celebrate Christmas in July. This year, however, is a little different. Between the pandemic and politics, we are all more burnt out than the Christmas tree in Clark Griswald’s house after Uncle Lewis sets it on fire.
Instead of pounding the eggnog and eating a small colony of gingerbread men, why not focus on celebrating yourself by revamping your fitness routine?
You deserve a little extra TLC this year. This article will get you in the holiday spirit and ready to celebrate Fitmas in July.
1) Plan Like Luther Krank
Do you have fitness goals you want to achieve this year? There’s still time! You have five months of 2020 to become stronger and healthier than you are today.
Layout your fitness goals with the same enthusiasm that Luther Krank planned his Caribbean Cruise in Christmas with the Kranks.
Writing down goals makes it easier to stick with them. Break up your ultimate goal into a series of smaller goals. Mark dates on your calendar for when you want to achieve these things, and reward yourself when you do. Consistently smashing these little goals will ensure your Ghost of Christmas future is fine as f**k.
2) Detox Like You’ve Been on Buddy the Elf’s Diet
So many of us have developed truly horrible eating habits during quarantine. If you’ve succumbed to drenching your spaghetti in maple syrup like Buddy the Elf don’t worry. We can help you come back from that.
Eating food high in sugar and preservatives takes a toll on your body. You will start to feel sluggish and weak most of the time. This happens because your body is full of unnatural chemicals and it’s struggling to break them down.
One way to detox is by consuming ingredients that support your body’s natural system for getting rid of toxins. Our Trust Your Gut tea contains ginger to support digestion, holy basil to help with purification, and dandelion which speeds up the detoxification process.
3) Run Like Rudolph
Remember when those bitchass reindeer told Rudolph he would never drive the sleigh but he hustled and became the most famous reindeer ever? Bring that type of energy into your workout routine.
Fitmas in July is the perfect time to try a new form of fitness.
Have you always wanted to be a runner but you cringe at the idea of shin splints and awkward inner thigh chafing? Try an introductory running program like Couch Potato to 5k. This program eases you into running by starting with plenty of walking breaks and increasing the time spent running each week. Remember slow and steady wins the race.
If running isn’t your thing, try a new type of fitness online through one of the millions of YouTube videos. YouTube is an easy and free way to try yoga, pilates, HIIT, or strength training and figure out which one is right for you.
4) Make Time For Yourself Like the Grinch
“6:30, dinner with me, can’t cancel that again!”
Say what you will about The Grinch’s flaws, he was a master at not sacrificing his “me time”.
It can be easy to get so caught up in doing things for your family, for your friends, and for work that you don’t take time for yourself. However, rest is an essential part of any fitness routine.
Schedule time in your day that is only for you and spend that time relaxing in whatever way you enjoy. Whether that’s meditating or brewing a cup of holiday tea and watching your favorite Christmas movie, make “me time” non-negotiable. After all, mental health is just as important as physical health.
Now Go Celebrate Fitmas in July!
We hope this guide has given you some ideas on how you can kick start your fitness routine in the most Christmassy way possible.
If you stick to this routine, you’re going to become so fit and healthy that Ebenezer Scrooge will start shouting Bah-HUBBA HUBBA when you walk by.
