“Hoes before bros. Ovaries before brovaries. Uteruses before duderuses.”

These iconic words from Leslie Knope sum up the spirit of Galentine’s Day. February 13th is one of our favorite days of the year because it’s all about ladies celebrating ladies.
-
Things are a little more difficult this year with the pandemic and social distancing, but Leslie Knope would never back down from a challenge and neither will we. We’re laying out how to celebrate Galentine’s Day even in these difficult times. Because female friendship is one of the most magical things on the planet, and it’s definitely worth celebrating.
-
1) Watch Rom-Coms Together... Virtually
Just because you can’t be cozied up on the couch with your besties doesn’t mean you can’t have a movie night. Many streaming platforms like Netflix and Amazon have “watch party” options where you can simultaneously stream movies from different locations.
-
Have your friends vote on their favorite rom-com and then pop some popcorn and stream it together! If you want to really hammer in the girl power message try a feminist rom-com like Obvious Child, Someone Great, or Saving Face.
Speaking of rom-coms, take our quiz to find out which rom-com leading lady you are!
2) Hold A Snap Cup Zoom Party
Leslie Knope is famous for her incredible compliments. She called her best friend Ann Perkins every nice thing under the sun. Bring this energy to your Galentine’s Day by holding a Snap Cup party.
-
The concept of a Snap Cup somes from Legally Blonde 2. Essentially, everyone in your group writes down compliments about each other and puts them in a snap cup. Then the “Snap Cup Ambassador” pulls the compliments out one by one, reads them aloud for everyone to hear, and the group snaps to show their appreciation.
-
To turn this into a virtual event, simply have everyone email their compliments to the Snap Cup Ambassador and she can print them out for the party. This is a super cute way to spread positivity and lift each other up on Galentine’s Day. After all, who couldn’t use a heartfelt compliment every now and then?
-
Some of the best Leslie Knope compliments if you need inspiration:
“You are the most beautiful, glowing sun goddess ever.”
“You are a poetic and noble land-mermaid.”
“You are a beautiful rule-breaking moth.”
3) Play Feminist Charades
If you’re looking for another fun virtual game to play, why not take a feminist twist on the classic charades? It’s just like regular charades but all of the entries are strong women and female characters from movies and books.
Take turns acting them out and keep score! Have a prize for the winning team, we suggest something fun and fierce like a tin of our Fierce B*tch tea ;).
4) Make An Outrageous Brunch Together
Brunch is a crucial part of Galentine’s Day. As Leslie Knope says, “We need to remember what’s important in life: friends, waffles, work. Or waffles, friends, work. Doesn’t matter, but work is third.”
-
Turn your kitchen into the hottest brunch spot in town with a Virtual Galentine's Brunch/Cooking Extravaganza. Here’s how it works: Each of your friends selects one unusual brunch item that they know how to cook. Then you all do a Zoom call where you take turns teaching each other how to make your items until they’re all done and you have a complete brunch!
-
Of course, the mimosas should be flowing and playlists should be bumpin' in the background.
5) Host A Tea Party
We always think tea parties are a good idea. But a Galentine’s Day tea party? What could be better.
-
Host a simple tea party for your friends, either virtually or in an outdoor space. Take this time together to just chill out, remember better days, and partake in lots and lots of girl talk.
-
If you’re looking for the best tea for your party, we suggest our Mega-Sampler Brew Book. There’s tea in there to match the personality of each of your friends, and it would be super fun to divvy them up based on who needs to Wake the F**k Up, Calm the F**k Down, or Get their Sh*T Together.
Have A Great Gals Day
From the bottom of our hearts, we want to wish all the ladies in our Snark Squad a Happy Galentine’s Day. You are all rainbow-infused space unicorns and you make our lives so much better. Don’t forget to lift other women up on Galentine’s Day and every day! We love you like Pawnee loves Lil’ Sebastian.
